Why are we here? • Malnutrition effects 3 million people nationally • 93% of people with malnutrition live at home • 1 in 3 people admitted to hospitals suffer from acute malnourishment
Why are we here? • If you are in hospital or a care home you face a greater risk of being malnourished • Malnutrition costs the country £13 billion a year
Effects of malnutrition effect people • Impaired immunity • Reduced muscle strength-falls and chest infections • Fatigue • Hypothermia • Slow wound healing
Effects of malnutrition effect people • Pressure ulcers • Delayed recovery from illness • Apathy, depression and self neglect
