KBE/Legislative Update • AdvanceKentucky announced a new cohort of 10 schools involved in the AP Teaching Training and Incentive Program for 2013-14 school year. The Board also heard the first reading of: • 704 KAR 3:303 that would incorporate the Next Generation Science Standards in the Kentucky Core Academic Standards • 704 KAR 3:035, to move toward a comprehensive system of professional learning

K-3 Program Review Expectations • All data entered into ASSIST by June 1 • 2012-13: school year data will be baseline data • 2013-14 : continue work to improve the K-3 program; info will be used to set accountability goal • 2014-15: K-3 PR added into overall PRs accountability score
K-3 Program Review Reporting for Accountability: What if a PreK-2 school feeds into a 3-5 school (or schools)? • Option 1: Generate a separate accountability score for each school building • Option 2: Assign the same accountability score to all buildings (e.g., PreK-2 and the feeder 3-5 school buildings)

CIITS Update • The Educator Development Suite (EDS) is available for all school districts • Training Opportunities: additional support resources have been added • Updated roles and permissions support document • Reminder: District MOU for Instructional Material statewide sharing. These forms can be returned via fax at (502) 564-9848 or sent to the kdeciitsmailbox@education.ky.gov.
CIITS District Highlight • Pulaski County Public Schools • Curriculum specialists and teacher leaders have provided training for the entire district and more teacher leaders are being identified (started with E/LA and Mathematics and expanding across all grade levels and content areas). • The district has a very strong leadership team that communicates well together and technology use is heavily emphasized (technology infrastructure is comprehensive across the district and the Superintendent makes this a priority). • District curriculum is very organized and they require consistent naming conventions district wide (this makes it easier to find and share across the district). • They have a district technology training center and the ATC promotes district collaboration. • The district has created a new teacher training program that is helping to build capacity across the district (focusing on mentoring and collaboration as critical processes assisting in support).
