  1. Advantages of Food Colour food colour can be made from many sources like plants, insects or minerals. It is used to preserve, to enhance the appearance of food and as a general preservative either for quality or for shelf life of certain products. Its effect on enhancing the colour is however limited since it is not selective and hence may alter the taste. The most important use of food colorants is in juice drinks, bakery products, soft drinks and confectionary product. Food colouring is also used in baking and dairy products. Most of the food coloring comes from natural sources such as plants; however, some are synthetic. Synthetic dyes are added to certain products to give them that artificial color. Food colour has advantages effects regarding our health. Its main purpose is to make food look fresh and natural.
