  3. Catering • Pupils who enjoy cooking should take this course as practical is an essential part of the course. You will cook every week. • This course is not just for those who want to be chefs but anyone who just enjoys cooking. • You will also be able to complete the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

  4. Hospitality & Catering This course is equal to 4 GCSE’s A-C grade. It will be offered over 2 option columns and you will have 5 lessons a week. This course is for anyone who enjoys doing a lot of cooking. It is particularly useful for anyone who wants to work in the Catering Industry

  5. Hospitality & Catering The main areas of study: • The Hospitality Business • Basic Cooking Skills • Health & Safety • Planning & Running an Event

  6. ASSESSMENT Projects are marked in school then sent to be marked externally. 3 Projects for Catering. 6 Projects for Hospitality & Catering There is no final exam

  7. Child Development The main areas of study • Social Background & Development • Food & Health • Physical Development • Intellectual Development You will learn all about young children from birth to 5 years old.

  8. ASSESSMENT How you will be assessed: 30% Board Prescribed Task 40% Child Study 30% Written Test

  9. You will need to go to a school or nursery as work experience is essential for this course.

  10. Child Development This is a worthwhile and satisfying course for everyone, however, it is very useful for those who would like to work with children as maybe a Teacher, Nursery Nurse or a Children's Nurse.
