  3. The Qin Emperor’s Strong Government • The Warring States period marked a time in China when several states battled each other for power. One state, the Qin (Chin), built a strong army that defeated the armies of the rivaling states. Eventually, the Qin dynasty united the country under one government. Shi Huangdi

Check Your Facts!!!! • Shi Huangdi created a strong government with a strict set of laws because he was a follower of Legalism. • The Qin rule had a great affect on China because it unified the country under one ruler. • Trade became much easier because under the Qin rule, China used the same coins and writing system. • Shi Huangdi was an intolerant leader who did not respect other people’s beliefs. He ordered the burning of all writings that did not agree with Legalism. • The Great Wall of China was built as a barrier to protect China from invasion from the fierce nomad warriors from the north. • After Shi Huangdi died in 210BC the government began to fall apart

  6. Terra-Cotta Army Of Shi Huangdi • In 1974 archaeologists found the tomb of Emperor Shi Huangdi near Xi’an and made an amazing discovery. Buried close to the emperor was an army of more than 6,000 life-size terra-cotta soldiers. Each soldier was different with its own facial features, hairstyle, and unique expression.
