Caused • The Mumps is a disease caused by a virus that usually spreads through saliva and can infect many parts of the body, especially the parotid salivary glands. • The mumps are caused by a virus. The virus is spread from person-to-person by respiratory droplets (for example, when you sneeze) or by direct contact with items that have been contaminated with infected saliva.
What mumps does to the body. • The mumps disease swells the salivary glands. ( located near the cheek or jaw line, and below your ears, are most frequently affected.)
Preventions. Mumps is prevented by the Mumps vaccine. However, the Mumps vaccine is not a 100% affective. Suggestions to keep from spreading the mumps are: washing the hands frequently, avoiding contact with people who have the virus.
