  3. What is a wiki? • open source computer-mediated communication (CMC) that provides a web space • similar to writing in the word processor • allowing multiple users to edit and modify collaboratively.

  4. Wiki for collaborative writing • Collaboration is the key feature sets wikis apart from other web-based documenting like blogs.

  5. Wikipedia • Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.org), the best-known wiki, demonstrates the feasibility of collaborative content creation.

  6. Wikibooks • Wikibooks is a Wikimedia community for creating a free library of educational textbooks that anyone can edit. • Wikibooks began on July 10, 2003; since then Wikibooks has grown to include over 34,974 pages in a multitude of textbooks created by volunteers like you!
