This year we have developed the Energy Conservation aspects of the EcoSchool award through these areas • Participation in Climate Change Week • Insulation experiments using resources from SEACS • Specific energy responsibilities given to members of the School Eco-Team • Launched “The Golden Plug Award”
Climate Change Week Prior to the week Jenny from SEACS visited us to carry out some experiments on insulation with Willow class.
Climate Change Week Members of Y6 were introduced to a Thermal Imaging Camera. They especially wanted to see whether our new thick polythene ‘doors’ in Oak class retained heat.
Climate Change Week With the help of the camera Sycamore class proved they are a great success!
Climate Change Week For Climate Change Week Y5 & Y6 led a special assembly to tell the school what they had found out about insulation and energy saving
Climate Change Week The assembly was used to launch the Golden Plug Award
The Golden Plug Award • Every day two members of the Eco-Team become inspectors and monitor energy conservation during break and play times. • They record their findings and announce the weekly winner at our Friday assembly.
Our next actions….. We hope to Use the Eco-Team weekly sheet to compare our classes’ response to energy saving. Where necessary Eco Team members will visit a class to encourage energy saving Use the automatic reading meters to track impact of our actions Back up actual energy saving with a financial reward given to the School Council
