  2. Research Topic: • History of racing • Prior knowledge: -Raised around NASCAR and racing

  3. Interesting facts • There are training schools for aspiring drivers such as, Jim Russell Racing Drivers School in Sonoma, California • Drivers are paid exceptionally well, a Sprint Cup driver can earn up to $1 million to $20 million a year in salary

  4. Broadcasted in over 150 countries which earns it one of the highest paid professions • A driver must be emotionally and physically fit • Carbon monoxide fumes can cause a driver to get confused

  5. What I learned: • A driver must withstand extreme fluctuating temperatures in a car during a race • Must stay physically fit by practicing arm, chest, leg, and brain exercises • Sponsored by more than one company at one time • Paid based on race winnings and other bonuses they receive from a company

  6. Product • Create a Wiki Space with a tour of the Richard Petty Museum • This ties to my research, because Richard Petty is “The King” of NASCAR and I was fortunate enough to do my mentor hours where a couple of his cars are and his winning trophies.

  7. Mentor • My mentor is Bonnie Davis

  8. Mentor • I have learned that Richard Petty is a friendly man and he is very down to earth, I got the pleasure of meeting him as soon as I started my hours there.

  9. Product • I have completed ten of the fifteen hours with my mentor. • Doing my hours has shown me that I did my research paper right because Richard Petty has done it all and I have learned almost all there is to know about him.

  10. Obstacles • Finding time between school and work to do my hoursRacecars have changed drastically through the years • There are many more complications than one thinks • Racing is a thrilling sport
