  1. Cover The By Bobby Foster Situation

  2. Problem • How does gender and cover change what video games people are interested in?

  3. Hypothesis • My guess is that a female would want to play a game with a female on the cover. • I also think a male would want to play a game with a male or guns on the front.

  4. Materials • 6 game covers. • Sheet for testers to fill out • Pencils

  5. Procedure • Gather materials • Get the testers, 4 of each gender into room, 1 at a time. • Have them write which one looks better to the and why. • Compile answers together. • Compare them. • Show

  6. Results • Final Fantasy 13 with 2 girl votes, and Little Big Planet 2 with 2 boy votes tied for first. • Halo 3 with 1 boy and 1 girl vote was voted worst.

  9. Conclusion • I was overall surprised at the results of my small survey. I thought the Boys would vote Little Big Planet 2 the worst, but in fact it got most popular with boys. I wasn’t surprised on how the Girls liked Final Fantasy more though. • I was surprised that HALO 3 of all things got last with 1 of the 2 votes being male.

  10. Possible Applications • This subject is very important in conveying what a game is about. So it would be needed for game covers, as well as book and DVD covers based on what they are about.
