MERIT Tuition fees • Third country students: 5000€/year • European students: About 1400€/year • Based on national public fees that yield small differences within the consortium. Also related to different services. • Public fees do not reflect the real cost of a quality MC. • Public fees are beyond the control of the consortium • Possible actions result in increased administrative burden and lack of full legal basis: • Average fee to be compensated internally • Inclusion of additional services to balance fees
Sponsorship Erasmus Mundus programme promoted as a quality umbrella for post-graduate European education. • Private sponsors have sponsorship programs for similar purposes: • E.g La Caixa in Spain: • Fulbright at the USA • British Council at UK
National Funding • MC European mobility currently under-funded: • Future MC European mobility programmes • Promotion of National programs devoted to fund European mobility within Erasmus Mundus MC. • Even a reduced number of National scholarships will result in a strong impact on quality perception of EM MC at national level.
International Funding • Erasmus Mundus programme promoted as a quality umbrella for post-graduate European education: • Latino America cooperation agencies • Mediterranean cooperation • Islamic development organizations • …
Use of tuition fees • Consortium management • Administrative support, consortium meetings (travels) • Dissemination • Consortium web, brochure, mailing, travels • Transversal courses • External lecturers from industry • Quality assurance • External committee, reporting
Overall resourcing • High quality programmes aim to a reduced number of students, e.g: • 25 students/year x4 partners=100 students/year. • Overall cost and long term sustainability not fully assessed • Combination of public and private resourcing
