Lytton First NationCommunity Profile • Population - 1942 register members • Approximately 800 members on-reserve • 56 reserves - East and West Side of Fraser • 14,161 acres • 12 Councillors - 1 chief • 205 residential homes • Seniors Complex - 22 units • Arts & Crafts Store, School, Gas Bar, Womens shelter, Kumsheen Enterprises, Saw Mill
CCP History • Pre 2004 - PDP - Capital & Infrastructure projects • 2004 - CCP Pilot Project • Sept 2004 - March 2005 • Community Planning Steering Committee • Members West Fraser North & South • Members East Fraser • Elders, Adults & Youth • Independent from Chief & Council & Administration • Clear Terms of Reference • Community Consultation • Meetings were held on the Eastside & Westside • Chief & Council reviewed plans and priorized • Reviewed on an Annual Basis - Strategic Planning Sessions were held with Program Managers

Progress to Date • Culture & Education Support NNTC Language Program • Distribute Language Kits to membership. • Youth are loading and listening the disks to their iPods • Use the language in project names/ statements, proposals Ie. ShchEma-mee.tkt Project, Nkshayt-kn Gatherings, TsooNayt – “Doing things the Right Way” Tseedeeda ash Weekdim, “The way we see it” (SVNS) • Develop the physical infrastructure to increase community pride and promote tourism and employment ie Stein Valley Park Arbor

Tips • Delegate and support Projects to implement CCP goals • Doesn’t only have to be delivered by the band, as long as community needs are being met. • Good working relationship with neighbors and funding agencies • Apply for funding that directly addresses the goals in the CCP
