Edit 05-FAFSA is incomplete • Under most circumstances, edit 05 indicates the CPS has not provided a PC/EFC to SSACI for the student. Common reasons for edit 05 are: • Student’s/parent’s AGI and income tax paid listed as same amount • Missing student/parent signature • Martial status/number in household is illogical • Missed parental information (common caused of edit 26 for special circumstances)
Edit 06-FAFSA birth date is invalid or incorrect • Date of birth student listed on question 9 of the FAFSA is: • Blank; • *Illogical (student lists DOB as 00/00/0000 or DOB indicates student is not of college age i.e. 12/25/00) *Contact SSACI to address situations where student’s DOB is correct but student has edits, i.e. student is early high school graduate/college enrollee

Edit 26-Edit 05 cause may be due to special circumstances • Edit 05 (Incomplete) is caused by student indicating on their FAFSA they have special circumstances that prevent them from including parental data on their FAFSA
Student indicated on FAFSA question 53 that they are an emancipated minor and this is the sole basis of their independent status State of Indiana does not recognize emancipated minors, so SSACI assigns edit to these students Schools can clear this edit after 5/16/11 by submitting a PJ transaction to the CPS, then clearing the PJ with SSACI using an appropriate reason code Acceptable SSACI dependency override codes: 01-Irreparable breakdown of the family 02-Death of the sole supporting parent Edit 28-Independent status caused solely by Emancipated Minor status
