2. Unit Question • What are the qualities that make up a good coach? • Decide on 3 pieces of criteria with examples that support your rational. Then use your criteria to judge whether Coach Boone is a good coach in a 1-2 page report.

3. Day 1 Create a large Venn diagram comparing Coach Yoats and Coach Boone. Information about these two characters will be added throughout the film. A completed Venn diagram and accompanying paragraph will be submitted at theend of the unit.

4. Day 1 - Homework • Does Coach Boone treat all of the players fairly? Explain? • Write a goal for Coach Boone to achieve during this football season. • Write a journal entry or letter as a Titans’ football player, parent or as one of the coaches expressing your feelings in this chapter. • Many “Ism’s” have been presented in the film so far, list the “Ism” and describe the situation in the film.

5. Day 2 - Homework • Which characters go against the stereotypes? Why? • What does Coach Boone do to try and erase these walls between the black students and white students, to make them a team? Does it work?

6. Day 3 - Homework • Why is the “real world” different from the world Coach Boone created at camp? What happened to the lessons Coach Boone taught them at camp? • Create a Venn diagram and paragraph comparing “Camp World” and “Real World”. Be sure to use signal words in your paragraph. • Create another Venn diagram and paragraph comparing your “school world” and “home world”.

7. Day 4 - Homework • Pick one of the decisions that a character is faced with and explain how a different reaction could have changed the plot of the story.

8. Day 5 - Homework • In your opinion, what is this story about? Explain. Consider why this movie was made and why Mrs. McLean presented this visual novel.
