2. 2. What did you like about the Distance Learning experience? I liked meeting new teachers and students and aides. I enjoyed working with my host teachers. I loved the clerical duties involved in keeping everyone organized. I enjoyed being with the kids and experiencing the new teaching and learning techniques of DL. The whole experience, I think it is wonderful. The ability to offer more classes to our students. Students get to learn about other schools. New faces and the camaraderie between the schools. 3. 3. What did you dislike about the Distance Learning experience? Not always being able to get a hold of a teacher by phone to discuss a problem. Constant talking of students at other site. Discipline problems. Rivalry between schools. Volume sometimes could not be controlled. 6. 6. What changes would you offer to improve the DL program? Teachers should visit other sites more often. Screen teachers better for teaching these classes and better communication skills with the off site students. The teacher should go to the different sites to teach at least one time. Try to connect schools that are close to one another so the teacher can visit more often. This would help in feeling as a complete class. Instructors [should be] better trained with email communication, especially sending materials as attachments. 7. 7. General Comments I enjoy my job very much!!! I think it would help for guidance counselors to sit in on classes periodically…to aid in placing students according to content levels and maturity. Require each teacher to do at least one visit to each school that is involved in that class and to teach from that site.
