3. Earp O.K. Corral Trial (1881) The gunfight at the O.K. corral that took place about 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 1881, in Tombstone, Arizona. This gunfight is the most memorable of all gunfights in the old west. It lasted about 30 seconds and only two survived out of the nine men. During the 1880s it was disrespectful to call a farmer a “Cowboy”, they are called herders or ranchers. Earp was known as a hero after the gunfight as he was the only survivor and he was a respected boxer as well as a pistol expert. He is a perfect deputy. He wasn’t afraid of anybody and everyone was afraid of him after the gunfight, which lowered criminal activity.
