The FLAME Monitoring System Functions: • computation modules monitoring (CM); • monitoring of the status of the system network’s links (for SCI); • monitoring of logs of CM serial consoles; • visualization of controlled parameters (metrics); • automatic response to critical values of metrics (active monitoring); • CM state control by means of the service network.
FLAME: Monitoring Scheme Configuration file: • has an XML format; • contains the description of the functions and intervals of computation reiteration; • assigns the structure of the XML files being composed and containing requested data. The state of the whole system equals the result of computation of a given set of functions, each depending on a set of measurable values of controlled devices. Sample function: the AND function of all system nodes.
FLAME: Monitoring System Structure (1/2) Agents: • interact directly with the OS and the equipment, • can be launched on demand, • collect and transmit data to the manager. The Manager: • supports the dynamic database (metrics repository), • collects, processes, and cashes data, • transmits data to the console, • controls the state of CM through the service network, • automatically reacts to critical values of metrics.
FLAME: Monitoring System Structure (2/2) The Console: • is a visualization and management tool, • queries the manager for the visualization data, • transmits CM control parameters to the manager, • grants the serial console for interactions with CM. The interaction protocol used are SNMP and HTTP.
