Semester Exam Exemptions Committee Research: • Current policy allows for exam exemptions in grades 9-12 only Board Input: • How are middle schools going to logistically manage students not taking exams? • Discuss allowing AP/IB/AICE exam exemptions Committee Recommendation: • Revise policy to apply for all high school credit courses, regardless of grade level Exam Exemption Uniformity 6Page 6

Exam Weighting for State EOC Courses Committee Research: • State EOC courses • Algebra 1 • Geometry • Biology • US History • Cumulative impact of exams is 47.5% of the final grade: Exam 1 8.75% Exam 2 8.75% EOC 30.0% Total 47.5% Committee Recommendation: • Lessen the weight of exams for courses with state EOC • Still have formative mid-year assessments • Subcommittee to identify potential options Board Input • Consider eliminating mid-term and/or final exams Final Grade Calculations 7Page 7
