Entrepreneurs Test Direct Solar Fruit Dryer • Site Assessment 21AUG13 • Wise Global Group (WGG) has been very successful competing for Information Technologies and other contracts in Kabul. • WGG has strategically determined to invest in the Agriculture sector in potatoes and dried fruit in 2013. • WGG built in 2013 improved direct solar dryers with significant commercial capacity to produce premium dried apricots. • WGG is studying cold storage options with the plan to build 500MT apple capacity in next 12 months. • Ongoing Action • At the prompting of WGG, Currans spent three weeks researching current solar and non-solar fruit drying technologies and produced the concept paper: Commercial Solar Fruit Drying. • Currans gave PowerPoint presentation Solar Fruit Drying to five Afghan businesses 21AUG at the Kabul Chamber of Commerce. • Currans is promoting with Afghan entrepreneurs the development of innovative indirect solar food dryers to be built from used shipping containers and other sustainable methods. 21-August-13
