Greco-Persian Wars. What Were they?. The Greco-Persian Wars were a series of major conflict between the Greek city states and the Achaemenid empire of Persia.

What Were they? • The Greco-Persian Wars were a series of major conflict between the Greek city states and the Achaemenid empire of Persia. • The conflict started with Lonia, Cyprus, and the Greek city states starting an unsuccessful revolt against the Persian empire which continued to the first Persian invasion.
Why were they important? • These conflicts were important because the wars put Greece bankrupt and Athens was burned as result.
First Persian invasion • It was one of the most magnificent assaults in the ancient world. • Darius made a Pontoon bridge and with lining 700 ships and connecting Asia to Europe. • The Persians reestablished the controll over Thrace and conquered Macedon but was defeated at Marathon.
Second invasion • This war ended with Greek victory Athens burned. To the ground. • The famous battle of thrompyla was fought in this war.
Rest of the wars • Greece counter attacked and reestablished control over all Greece
