A Comparison of LevelsMath Based Courses Academic Applied • 70% or higher in math in grade 8 particularly in Patterning and Algebra • EQAO scores in grade 6 were level 3 or higher. • Good mastery of all basic math skills. (multiplication, fractions, managing multi-step problems) • Strong math vocabulary. • Conscientious about completing homework and studying. • Grade 8 teacher recommends this level. • Marks lower than 70% in grade 8 particularly in Patterning and Algebra • EQAO scores in grade 6 were level 2 or below • Relies on a calculator or multiplication charts for basic facts • Difficulty completing assignments • Learns best from a practical hands-on method. • Gr 8 teacher recommends this level.

Changing Levels • It is important for students to start in a level where they can be successful. • It is not fun to fail. • Students will be more successful in a level that best fits their learning style. • Students can change levels.
