Cells – smallest unit of life. • Multicellular – plants and animals are made of many cells! • Single celled organisms are made of only one cell!
Homeostasis • Organisms need to maintain an internal balance • Not enough water = dehydrated • Too much water = water poisoning
Response to Environment • Stimulus Response • Ex. It’s cold outside (stimulus), so you start to shiver (response) • Organisms evolve to survive in the environment
Obtain and use energy • Plants absorb suns energy • Animals consume nutrients
Grow and develop • All living things have a life cycle – birth to adult
Excrete waste • Get rid of waste • Animal waste - #1, #2, CO2, sweat (salt), heat
Respiration • Exchanging gases with the atmosphere (to create energy)
