Spoiled Weepers • 1. The Story • They were called wondrous acts and miracles from the direct hand of God- v.27 • Egypt was polytheistic and worshipped many Gods • Every plague was a mockery against one of Egypt’s God • Eight of the ten plagues are recalled in Ps. 105:23-36
Spoiled Weepers • 1st plague • Turning the water into blood • Mocking of Osiris, the God of the Nile River • All water in the Nile turned to blood… • No drinking water available from Nile

Spoiled Weepers • 3. What about today? • 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 • 1 John 5:21 • An idol is anything that we love more than we love the Lord • Idolatry means not dedicating quality time to the Lord
Spoiled Weepers • 3. What about today? • Idolatry is filling our lives with ceremonial activities and neglecting a personal friendship with Jesus
Spoiled Weepers • 4. Psalm 106:6-15 • …after all of God’s blessings, Israel still said- • “give us more” • “give us something new” • “meet our needs” • “we are not satisfied”
Spoiled Weepers • Is this the pattern of our lives? • Wonderful deliverance • Daily blessings • Provisions • Protection • We give God our praise • Some trials and tests
Spoiled Weepers • Is this the pattern of our lives? • Our complaining • We backslide • We lose faith • God disciplines us • We repent • We are forgiven
Spoiled Weepers • 5. Idolatry is our determination to have our own way • No matter what God has done for us • No matter what God has been teaching us, we want control • This is our stubborn pride • This is our selfish heart
Spoiled Weepers • 5. Idolatry is our determination to have our own way • We just want what we want, no matter the consequences • Psalm 106:15 • An awful consequence- • God gives us our request, but sends leanness to our souls
Spoiled Weepers • 5. Idolatry is our determination to have our own way • By insisting on grasping control of our own lives, God gives us over to the oppression of Satan • Matthew 6:24 • “No man can serve two masters” • But we will serve one!
Spoiled Weepers • 6. We think that we can control • Our position • Our authority • Our relationship • Expecting others to submit
