Single Point of Referral • Simple for learners • Simple for referring agencies • Removes duplicate waiting lists • Posters translated into 30+ languages advertise how to access service • Inquiry forms and leaflets translated into Polish, Portuguese and Russian and widely available • Awareness raising training: libraries, CLD, Careers, Job Centre Plus • Information available in several formats, including www.newtotheborders.co.uk
Joint Initial Assessment • Assessments carried out in major Borders towns on a rolling programme • Choice of times offered if possible and piloting parallel childcare • Have staged assessments in hotels, nursing homes as well as community venues to increase accessibility • Reading, writing and spoken tasks to determine level • Learners invited to join group at most appropriate level
