  18. Course Selection for 2013-14 • Make sure student is taking classes that are of interest and that can be maintained for the entire school year. • Final opportunity to change classes for next year will be May. • Students will not be allowed to change electives in August or when school starts. This will be strictly enforced due to new mandates on how courses are balanced.

  19. Communication • Talk with your students: check in with them, ask how they are doing in their classes, with college application process, etc – BUT DO NOT do the work for them!! • Review Progress Grades, Quarter Grades and Semester Grades through Infinite Campus. Quarter and Semester grades count for sports eligibility and college admissions. • Communication with your student’s teachers and counselor ONLY if student is struggling (earning a D or below) and graduation and/or college are in jeopardy. • Be aware of attendance. - Call attendance office whenever student will be out. - A class cannot be passed if student has more than 17 unexcused absences. - Poor attendance affects participation in school events – Fashion Show, Winter Formal, Prom, etc.

  20. Academic Integrity At M-A we expect all students to uphold the highest possible standards of academic integrity; all students read and sign our policy. Violations include: copying, plagiarizing, sharing work when not permitted, using notes when not permitted We are finding an increasing number of incidents in AS and AP classes due to stress levels and unreasonable self-imposed expectations. Please help support your student in selecting a manageable course load so that they do not feel the need to jeopardize their academic integrity. Once a second offense of cheating occurs, we will be required to report the incident to the colleges.
