  2. Appearance • Biggest sea turtles • Weigh more than a ton • 6 feet long or more the leathery shell feels like rubber • The shell shell has black and yellow spots

  3. Habitat • Lives in warm water off the Atlantic ,Pacific and Indian Oceans. • Also lives in cold waters in the northern shores of Canada and the southern coast of south Africa.

  4. Diet • Leatherback sea turtles have backward spines in their mouth and throat. • Their favorite prey is jellyfish. • The spines keep the slippery food from falling out. • ;

  5. Protection • The seaturtle has a leather shell. • Crabs and raccoons feed on hatchlings as soon as they are born. • Sharks are the only ones who eat the adult sea turtle.

  6. Animal Group • Leather back sea turtles live in a family of air breathing reptiles. • They are cold blooded. • They breathe using one or two lungs. • They lay eggs.

  7. Facts • Females can lay up to 90-130 eggs. • It’s the biggest sea turtle. • They can weigh up to 20 tons. • They can dive as deep as 1,000 feet in the ocean. • Even though they might look like they are crying, their special glands allow them to get rid of extra salt from the ocean water.
