A WEEK WITHOUT INTERNET OR TV Conclusions based on the supervision of the work and presentations done by students of 3rd ESO from Institut Alexandre de Riquer (Calaf) February 2012
A WEEK WITHOUT INTERNET OR TV When I asked my students that they had to spend a week without watching TV or surfing on the internet I realised that to achieve the aims of the activity they wouldn’t have to be able to use both, as the ones who decided not to surf on the internet said they would spend more time watching TV and viceversa. Another interesting point is that nowadays there are many contents available from both channels. In fact, my students usually use their computers to watch their favourite TV programmes. However most of them use TV to watch soap operas, music programmes, quiz shows and sports programmes. On the other hand, the internet is used to comunicate through social networks and play computer games.
A WEEK WITHOUT INTERNET OR TV In the following presentations you will find some of the alternatives our students found to the time that they usually spend watching TV or surfint on the internet. In general they express that they had much more time to spend with their families and friends. That’s interesting, because they have realised that they can be in touch with people without using a computer. They have found many possibilities (reading, playing board games, going to the cinema, cooking…) Many of them have improved the time they spend doing sport. This is very significant if we take into account that it means a big change, as they felt much more active and not so sedentary.
A weekwithout Internet or TV...! Biel Anyé and Roger Rotés 3r B
We are Roger and Biel, two students of high school, and our Comenius teacher asked us to spend a week without surfing the internet and without watching television. Here there is a presentation to show you a lot of alternatives...!
Monday On Monday, we had a snack after school, and did our homework. Next, we went out for a walk around the town with our friends. Next, when we were at home, we helped our mothers and fathers to cook dinner. Next we pñayed board games, with our families.
Tuesday We had a lot of homework, and did them in two parts. We had a break to relax and eat something, we did some sport to relax, we had a shower and continued doing our homework.
Wednesday Beacause we have a free afternoon, we stayed at a friend’s house. And next, we did our homework together. Then we went to music lessons.
Thursday Thursday was a beautiful day and we didn’t have much homework, so we went for a ride with our bikes to a nice place that we know. Next we went to basket training, we had a shower, we had dinner and went to bed. This day was very tiring.
Friday Friday is the last day of the week we must go to school. In the afternoon, we went to the swimming pool, and swamThis sport is the healthiest. Then we ate a lot, to get all the energy that we had lost.
Saturday Saturday, the 6th day of the week… We were mad to surf the internet… But We mustn’t do it! In the morning we had a shower, ate milk and biscuits, and played football with our friends. In the afternoon we went jogging in the city, and next, we had to do our homework!!!
Sunday In the last day of the week, we went for a ride with our bikes near the river. We Had breakfast there, and went back home. In the afternoon, we went to the stadium and watched a football match.
A week without Internet Elna Sans i Narbona
Monday After school… On Monday I went to practice athletics in Manresa. When I went back home had dinner. Then I didn’t chat and I read for a little time. “Main wasn’t a fun stories book!”
Tuesday It was a terrible day! I went out for a walk. I wore my new boots and when I was going back home from school a dangerous dog bit me! For that reason I spent the afternoon and evening trying to repair the boots, but I couldn’t, so I couldn’t use the internet or watch TV at all. After school…
After school… WEDNESDAY I thought about doing something different and I went dancing instead of staying in with the computer all day, and I did it!
After school… Instead of being on the computer all afternoon I went out with friends! It was a fantastic evening and wonderful!
After school… Friday . I went home and I had something to eat. Then I did my homework for the next week because at the weekend I wouldn’t’t have any time.
Saturday Instead of being home for the whole day I went to an athletics competition. I took part in the morning and afternoon so I didn’t have time to use my computer.
Sunday On Sunday I didn’t stay at the computer Instead, I spent a family day at home with my parents. We played a lot of games and my little cousin was an entertainment for us.
A WEEK WITHOUT INTERNET AND TELEVISION We are Loida, Jessica and Fayza, and we’re going to explain the things you can do in a week without Internet or television.
Monday On Monday, we watch TV for one hour, and we surf on the Internet for 1 hour. Instead of watching TV, we can read books or magazines. An alternative to surf on the Internet could be drawing.
Tuesday On Tuesday, we spend two hours surfing the Internet and two hours more watching TV. Instead of these, we could go jogging, and afterwards, stay at a friend’s house or play board games.
Wednesday We surf on the Internet for three hours. In its place, we can help with the housework and later, go for a walk. In the evening, we can listen to the radio or chat instead of watching television.
Thursday On Thursday, we spend 2 hours surfing on the Internet. We replace it with going jogging or doing some sport. In the evening, we could talk to our parents or family instead of watching TV.
Friday On Friday, after having dinner, we can go for a walk. Later, we can cook. We sometimes cook cakes. After, we can read a bit.
Saturday We watch television for two hours, and we surf on the Internet for two and a half hours. Instead of these, we can do some sport, and later, go shopping or go bowling.
Sunday On Sunday, after doing our homework, we replace the two hours surfing the Internet and one hour watching TV with going to the cinema with friends. In the evening we read.
