  1. The ProjectWise Advantage Gary Cochrane - Information Management Sales Executive Steve Sims - Federal Account Manager

  2. …is a system of collaboration servers and services for Owners, Engineers, Architects, and Construction organizations to create and entrust their critical facilities information… …that provides facility configuration management and information re-use, in a scalable, industry-proven, and highly secure environment

  3. Project Team Collaboration Challenges Design and engineering content demands are unique • Lack of interoperability • Large files are difficult to share • Different workflows and applications Teams are distributed across offices and organizations • Slow and unreliable network connections • Different processes and standards • Time wasted looking for and validating information Project information is constantly changing • Assuring teams have current data • Complex, interdependent file relationships • Lack of real-time synchronization

  4. ProjectWise Secures Information Mobility Facility Configuration Management Content Re-use AECO Information Management Stakeholders Design Team Organizational mobility in a managed environment Continuity in Enterprise lifecycles Dynamic Feedback Timely and actionable participation Reviewers

  5. Facility Configuration Management Create and manage ongoing work-product effectively …where the right people quickly and reliably accelerate work-in-progress using infrastructure tools and workflows of choice. AECO Information Management

  6. Facility Configuration Management • Control • Access & distribution • Workflows • IT & Project Standards • Status and approvals • Dependencies • Organizational Agility • Responsiveness • Virtualized talent • Scalability • Reporting • KPIs • Changes and Audit trails • Status • Dependencies • Filtering, Aggregation • Component Information • Content type • Engineering Models • Drawings • Specifications • Redlines • Offices docs • Point Clouds • PDFs • File Formats • Assignments and roles • Document’s Status • Relationships – Reference Files • Spatial Location • Responsible party AECO Information Management • PragmaticWork-sharing • “Delta File Transfer” • Version management

  7. FCM: Servers & Services • ProjectWise Integration Server • Empower and manage AECO Content and team collaboration • ProjectWise Caching Server • Solve the geographically distributed ‘big files’ problem • ProjectWise Web Server • Enable project team member access via a web browser • Bentley Transmittals Server • Package, register, deliver and track Engineering transmittals

  8. Facility Configuration Management Example • Let’s start with an As-Built set of Drawings • Drawings are available to operations in PDF format • Drawings are not under change • Drawings are Revision A • Operational Personnel only sees • Construction Release drawings • As-built drawings • Work in Progress drawings are hidden by security

  9. Typical Environment Facility 1 Structural Preliminary Review Construction Release Mechanical Design Review As-Built Complete Electrical Construction Review Etc. Etc. Private Engineering Folders Public Folders

  10. Facility Configuration Management Example Drawings indexed with metadata Drawings currently at Rev:A Current User Book icon indicates read-only access to As-built’s

  11. Easy Access Using Familiar tools

  12. Titleblock Synchronized with Index

  13. Document Properties: Built-in Fields

  14. Document Properties: Site-Specific Fields

  15. Document Properties: Site-Specific Fields

  16. Document Properties: Audit Trail

  17. Engineering User Perspective Current User Pencil icon indicates edit permissions

  18. Document Placed Under Change Engineer creates New Rev:B New Rev:B automatically moves to start of workflow Changes are made on source CAD files

  19. Old CAD Revision still available Old Rev:A is now read-only

  20. Configurable Workflow States are configured to model the organizational workflow Document State changes trigger events such as Automated Messages, Rendition Generation, and Security changes

  21. Document Workflow State Change moves Document to next state

  22. Document Workflow

  23. Milestone Renditions State Change triggers PDF generation PDF placed in Preliminary Review Folder

  24. Drawing Watermarks PDF watermarked to represent Drawing State

  25. Incorporating Feedback After Review, drawing moves forward to the Design state Additional design changes incorporated on CAD files

  26. Design Review State

  27. Milestone Renditions State Change again triggers PDF generation PDF placed in Design Review Folder

  28. Milestone Renditions Rev:B PDF replaces Rev:A from prevous design iteration

  29. Final Design / Construction Review States

  30. Milestone Rendition State Change again triggers PDF generation

  31. Construction Review PDF placed in Construction Review Folder, and watermarked appropriately

  32. Construction Release Drawing is made read-only upon reaching Construction Release

  33. Construction Release – Sub-workflow PDF state automatically set to ‘Awaiting Signature’ PDF placed in Construction Release Folder,

  34. Digital Signatures Engineer then places Digital Signature on Construction Release PDF

  35. Signing Process

  36. Signed Document Checked In

  37. Finalizing Construction Documents Engineer then changes state on Construction Release PDF to ‘Final-Signed’

  38. Operations Perspective New Rev:B Construction Release now supersedes Rev:A to Operations personnel Current User

  39. As-built Changes CAD Drawing now moves to ‘As-Built Changes’ state for Engineering to incorporate changes made during construction

  40. As-built Complete When As-built changes are complete, CAD Drawing now moves to ‘As-Built Complete’ state, which triggers final PDF generation

  41. Workflow Ends, and files are Read-Only Check-Out command becomes inactive for drawings in ‘As-Built Complete’ state

  42. As-built Complete As-built Complete PDF (Rev:B) now supersedes (Rev:A) for Operations personnel

  43. Operations Perspective - Final

  44. Security Verification Confirm Groups and their respective access for any given document

  45. Placing Documents under Change As-built Complete document may not be edited. Engineering must create a new version to start the cycle again

  46. Indexing and Searching Documents may be located using the quick search field

  47. Indexing and Searching This form provides the capability to search on any individual field Documents may also be located using the advanced search form

  48. Full Text Searching Additionally, ProjectWise provides Full Text Search for industry standard formats including CAD formats

  49. Spatial Searching Lastly, ProjectWise provides spatial searching that allows the user to specify an area on a map to locate documents

  50. Trusted Shared Source of Truth • Each participant uses their own applications and file formats in their own locations. Excel PDF PowerPoint CADModel CADDrawing Project Word Database BIM
