PRESENT SCENARIO Fast growing Textile & Apparel industries. Substantial increase in Investment Capacity in growing economy. Migration of RMGI to rural areas due to easy availability of human resources. Wide gap between supply of trained manpower and actual industry demand. Non-availability of trained human resources in the existing Garment & Textile industry. Huge availability of unemployed and educated rural youths.
OBJECTIVES To meet the wide gap between supply of trained manpower and actual industry demand. To train unemployed rural youth in various skill sets required for RMGI and make them employable. To create SHGs and provide linkages with RMGI. To mitigate the migration of rural mass to urban areas in search of employment. To uplift the rural mass through Apparel Training and help them to improve standard of living. To upgrade the skill set of the workforce in the existing Apparel & Textile industries in the State.
NEED FOR ATDCs COLLABORATION WITH RD&PR DEPT. As part of social responsibility and in specific development of the weaker sections of the society, Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Department, Govt. of Karnataka has tied up with ATDCs Various initiatives are on the anvil for the development of Rural Mass especially women living Below Poverty Line (BPL). The textile and garment industry currently employs 35 million people as direct labour. As per XI plan, to match the investment of Rs.1,50,600 crores, an additional requirement of 5.3 million skilled manpower is required by 2012 .
APPAREL TRAINING AND DESIGN CENTRE • AEPC conceptualized the Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) to meet the industry’s growing requirement for a steady supply of trained workforce and professional training expertise in various aspects of Garment Technology. • The textile and garment industry currently employs 35 million people as direct labour. • As per XI plan, to match the investment of Rs.1,50,600 crores, an additional requirement of 5.3 millionskilled manpower is required by 2012 .
ATDC’S IS ALSO SOCIAL COMMITMENT • As part of institutional social responsibility and in specific development of the weaker sections of the society, ATDC has tied up with following organizations- • National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC) • National Scheduled Castes Finance & Development Corporation (NSFDC) • Various Govt. Departments / Welfare Organizations Under The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India like- • National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) • National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC) • National Safai Karamchari Finance & Development Corporation, (NSKFDC) etc.
ATDC – SATELLITE CENTERS IN KARNATAKA PROMOTED UNDER SGSY SCHEME, RD&PR DEPT., GOVT. OF KARNATAKA • In Karnataka, under SGSY infrastructure support Five Satellite Centers are set up in various district headquarters to train the rural mass. • Ramnagar, • Kolar, • Tumkur, • Chikkaballapur & • Hubli.

Industrial High speed Sewing Machines including Specialised Machines. Straight knife cutting machine . Cutting / Pattern Making Tables Steam Iron with ironing table Dressforms & Mannequins Classroom furnitures Electrical Fittings & fixtures Genset Non-recurring expenditure upto Rs.30.00 lakhs Recurring expenditure of Rs.5.50 lakhs per annum

APPAREL TRAINING & DESIGN CENTRE Each ATDC can train- In First phase it is proposed to train 600 Sewing Machine Operators per year SGSY Swarozgaries.
Proposed to establish similar training centre (ATDC model) at District and Taluk level in co-ordination with NGOs / RUDSETIs havinggood track record.These centers are established in Public Private Partnership (PPT) model Establishing ATDC

ATDC, RAMNAGAR APPAREL TRAINING & DESIGN CENTRERAMNAGAR • Ramnagar, is situated on Bangalore-Mysore highway, approximately 50 km away from Bangalore. • ATDC, Ramnagar is located in the premises of City Municipal Complex on the banks of River Arkavati. • The location is best suited for ATDC as major Garment industries such as M/s. Madura Garments, M/s. Lotus Clothing, M/s. Bombay Rayon, M/s. LeelaScottish, etc are flourishing on BM Road which is a garment hub for Apparel industry.
Salient Features of ATDC, Ramnagar • This Centre became functional with effect from June 28, 2007. • Currently the centre is offering 1 month Sewing Machine Operation (SMO) course. • The ATDC, Ramnagar is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery & equipments imported from Japan being currently used in garment industry. • It uses all the Modern Training Facilities and latest teaching aids including LCD projection system. Udhasi, Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Govt. of Karnataka on June 7, 2007. • Tumkur is located on Bangalore-Pune highway, approximately 65 km away from Bangalore. • ATDC is located in the premises of Artisan Training Institute, Tumkur.
