What we want you to do… • We will split you in to 4 groups • You have a flip chart and marker pens • Your group has one hour to discuss the issues raised during the session presentations • Prepare a 5-10 minute presentation on your group’s discussions • Elect a spokesperson or spokespeople to present • We’ll provide a facilitator just in case!
Break-out Groups • Africa, South America and Australasia - Facilitator, Jeff Wilson • Asia - Facilitator, CM Shun • RAIV& RAVI west - Facilitator, Carr McLeod • RAVI east - Facilitator, Herbert Puempel
Friday 5th February Afternoon • Quality Management (Shakeer Baig, Trinidad and Tobago) - 10 minutes • Aeronautical Forecaster and Observer Standards (Ian Lisk, UK) - 30 minutes • Breakout session (approx 15 per group) then coffee - 1 hour • Presentation to plenary by breakout groups (5-10 minutes per group ~ 45 minutes total)
QMS - please consider… • How difficult has QMS implementation been in your service? Or… • What plans does your service have for QMS implementation? • What are or have been the issues associated with the above? • What kind/type of assistance is required through WMO?
AMP Competence - please consider… • What do you think about the EC-LXI proposed definition of a WMO Meteorologist? • How much assessment of aeronautical MET personnel competence is currently being done in your MET service? • How do you think your MET service will go about implementing a competency assessment framework? • What do you think of WMO’s proposals to assist with implementation and compliance?
Saturday 6th February Terminal Area (am): • New Terminal Forecast (Cyndie Abelman, US and Stephanie Desbios, France) - 45 minutes • TAF Verification (Queenie Lam, HK,China) - 15 minutes
‘NTF’ - please consider… • What is your perception/interpretation of what the NTF objective is? • Is there a demand/need (as opposed to a requirement) for the NTF? • How should we go about better understanding the user needs, indeed should we? • What visualisation format should the NTF take? • Given the above, what should we call it?
TAF Verification - please consider… • How can TAF verification measure the ‘usefulness’ of a TAF from a user perspective? • Is it possible to accurately verify the probabilistic and TEMPO parameters given in a TAF? • Why does TAF verification matter? • What kind/type of assistance is required through WMO? • Should we be looking at the structure/format of the current TAF?
Saturday 6th February Session Chair, Ian Lisk, UK Regionalised MET service provision (pm): • SIGMET Provision (Sue O'Rourke, Australia) - 15 minutes • SESAR (Doug Johnson, UK) - 15 minutes • NextGen (Cyndie Abelman, US) - 15 minutes • Potential impacts on Air Navigation MET Service Providers in other regions (Gaborekwe Khambule, RSA) - 15 minutes
Regionalised ANMSP - please consider • What are your views on a more regionalised model for SIGMETs? • How is CAeM ‘relevant’ to regionalised ATM programmes such as SESAR and NextGen? • What do you expect to be the impact of regionalised ATM programmes on ANMSP? • What do you expect to be the overall impact on individual NMSs?
