Contribution to the Atomic Theory • Benjamin Franklin suggested how to calculate the size of an atom before the idea of the molecular theory even existed • In the 1700's Franklin theorized that electricity was made up of both positive and negative charges, this supplied information that allowed Dalton to further his theory and conclude that atoms consisted of both positive and negative charges
