Fidencio Martinez Memphis , TN » • Fidencio Martinez paints in exploration of a range of identity issues, most importantly race and alienation. • He regards his creative practice as a form of atonement for being brought up in a privileged nation instead so nearby his ravaged motherland, Mexico. By manipulating newspaper headlines about border fatalities, drugs, and corruption, he hopes to draw attention to these issues. His goal is to inspire viewers to seek out more information. • His work contains metaphors such as stained paper, to represent the marginalization of his people and the compromised reputation of a once prosperous land.

  4. Jon Foster Providence, RI » • Jon is best known for his comic book covers (DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics) and other works featured in Dungeons & Dragons and Alternity. He studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated in 1989. His paintings are oils on canvas and are known to have a dark or muted color pallet. Typically, they incorporate subject matter like good vs. evil, anger, and adventure. Before a project is complete, Foster scans his paintings into a computer to add digital effects. • Earlier in his career, Jon collaborated with artists such as Rick Berry and Dave Dorman (well known Star Wars artist). Foster has also illustrated cards for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game. • Some of his achievements include multiple awards from the prestigious Spectrum sci-fi and fantasy art publications.
