Command View Upgrade • The hp StorageWorks command view xp 2.0 contains major architecture changes to support the new XP12000 array, enhanced user security and other new features. • Unlike earlier hp StorageWorks command view xp (CV XP) version, CV XP 2.0 is known to be incompatible with XP1024 and XP128 array firmware version of 21.10.08.11/00 and earlier. • As a result, existing customers with XP128 and XP1024 with incompatible firmware cannot use CV XP 2.0 to manage their arrays. • If the customers decide to purchase a XP12000, the customers must use CV XP 2.0 to manage this new array architecture. Please refer to the CV XP compatibility white paper for compatibility matrix. The white paper will be available in PIT. HP Restricted

CV 2.0 and PA and APM compatibility • CV 2.0 management server software can only co-locate with PA 2.0 management software. • CV 2.0 Path Connectivity host agent can co-locate with PA 2.0 and older PA host agents. • CV 2.0 management server communicates to CV 2.0 host agent only. Launching Array Management GUI • For XP128, XP1024 and XP12000 array types, the Web Console (GUI) can be launched directly (without CV XP) using the following URL: http://<SVP IP Address> • The main differences between the Web Console GUI and the CV GUI will be that there will be no Online help icon. Hence the Online help icon functionality is not available in Web Console GUI when launched directly (without CV XP) using the above URL. • Another significant difference is that you  cannot  list or kill web console GUI sessionsfrom Command View where as you can list or kill CV GUI  sessions from command view. Changing session timeout value • The session timeout value determines how long a session lasts after a user in Modify mode has not used the browser. • The default is set to 60 minutes. • You can change the value by editing a configuration file. To change the value, edit the SESSION_TIMEOUT_PLAN value in the CommandView.propertiesfile. • SESSION_TIMEOUT_PLAN value can be: • ONCE:Value • Using this setting, Command View checks the CommandView.properties file only once, when someone adds a device or restarts the server, and then sets the session timeout value at that time. • ALWAYS:value • Using this setting, Command View checks the CommandView.propertiesfile every time a user in Modify mode clicks a tab to manage an XP128, XP1024 and XP12000 (Identity and Status tabs excluded). Control Panel • Use the Control Panel to edit user accounts, set environment parameters, and download files containing log information. • To access the Control Panel, click Option button in the Command View window. Option is only a tool tip which will be visible when you place the cursor on the icon. HP Restricted

Array History • Use the Array Event History pane to view recent disk array events and error conditions. • To use Array Event History, you must configure one or more XP disk arrays to forward traps to Command View’s Trap Distributor and then you can choose to set up Trap Distributor to forward SNMP traps. • Only SNMP traps received by Trap Distributor are recorded in the Array Event History pane. Event Notification • Use the Event Notification pane to configure and dispatch notifications, configure the history log file, view events and notification history, and test notification dispatching. Event Notification also includes a history log of disk array events. • Event Notification will automatically record events and generate notifications for any managed disk array and Path Connectivity without requiring additional configuration. Trap Distributor can be used to record events from unmanaged disk arrays as well as managed disk arrays. HP Restricted

Users and groups • Users in Command View 2.0 are classified in four categories: • Normal Users • Basic group with read only access to entire Command View Framework • Storage Administrators • These users are storage administrators for one or more arrays. • Command View Administrators • These users are the super administrators of the Command View management station.   33. Command View SVP users • All users of Command View will have the same web console user name for all of the arrays (XP128, XP1024, and XP12000 only) to which they have access. • The same user name should be used to gain GUI or RSD API access to the arrays. HP Restricted

Single sign-on for Command View • Once logged into the Command View XP GUI, users are able to access array managers and Command View XP snap-in components (for example, Priority Port Control (PPC) and Performance Advisor (PA)) without being challenged for authorization and authentication. • The Security or user admin system will be the common user management platform for all snap-in applications. Access to Command View features • Access to Command View XP framework features • Users who wish to access features of the Command View XP framework, such as Path Connectivity, Performance Advisor and so on, must login to the Command View XP management station. • Access to Command View XP device managers (Web consoles) • There are two ways for users to access the Web Consoles. One is from within the Command View framework by utilizing links provided there. Alternately, users can launch the web console directly without having to login to Command View XP. • Access to Command View XP CLIs • Any user who has an account in Command View XP framework except default API users, can use CLI by logging-in with the user ID and password with which the user has been defined in Command View XP. However there is no single sign-on between the CLI, GUI and API sessions. • If the user is using the GUI after logging in, to use the CLI the user has to login again. HP Restricted

Centralized user administrator • All user permissions are managed through Command View, and users are permitted to directly access the Web Console using those accounts. • Command View will push updates to each affected array at the time array is added to Command View. To minimize synchronization problems, administrators are not permitted to make any user admin changes on the Web Console. • If the array is off-line (communication problem, SVP failed and so on) while changes are made to Command View XP user database, the changes are not be allowed. • If the array is being modified by some other user the operations are not allowed.Some operations like deleting a user from command view is allowed even if the array is offline or being managed by another user. Command View XP Data Security • SVP security – firewall white paper will be available. • Security for storage of user login information • The user and group information will be encrypted • Import exports are not allowed in Command View to prevent hacking user account information from one Command View station and installing on another • There is an encrypted data exchange between Command View client and server and also with Web console to reduce the risk of being hacked. • Book marking a URL with login information to gain access to Command View XP is not allowed as the URL contains a random ID and it is valid for that point of time. • Security for RMI communication • The Command View XP clients/server to RSD SVP communication is through RMI over SSL HP Restricted

Path Connectivity — Overview • A standard snap-in module for CV XP • Runs on CV management station • Collects data from hosts, arrays, and switches • Discovers connectivity paths between arrays and hosts • Maps connectivity between hosts and arrays • Presents views of host/storage data to the user • Presents host “visibility” (which hosts can “see” volumes in the array). CLI overview • A text-based interface used to manage and retrieve information about XP arrays • Can run on a CV management station or supported host • Same version of CV must be installed on the CV management station • JRE 1.4.2 (Windows) or JRE/RTE 1.4.1.07 (HP-UX) is installed on client CLI platform • Host must have network connectivity to the CV management station • Input can be single line entries or batch files • Output can be displayed on screen or directed into a file HP Restricted

Running the CLI • Interactive Mode • Enter one command at a time • CLI provides a command prompt • Batch Mode • Run a file containing multiple CLI commands • Useful for submitting a large number of commands • Commands are not executed sequentially, instead similar commands are grouped and executed together to increase speed and efficiency • Session ends after all commands in batch file have executed HP Restricted
