Case Study 1 - Plastic Extrusion Company Employees 38 people Plastic sprue (mould) was disposed of to landfill as part of general waste skip using an 8yd3 Skip Approximately 4m3/ week = 1 tonne/ week or 50 tonnes a week 50 tonne x 4m3 = 200 m3 / 0.76455 (metres to yards) 261.59 yd3 / 8 yd3 = 32 skip lifts @ £100 = £3,200
Case Study 2 - Joinery Company Employees 18 people Between May 2008 and April 2009, the cost waste service was £5,941 and based on the most recent 4-months between May and August 2009 is predicted to increase to £6,672 for the following year. The cost of heating using the gas convection heaters was £6,295 (169,687 kWh) for the same year. A combined cost of £12,236 per annum
Case Study 2 – Joinery Company Purchase of two 150kW wood-fired convector heaters to replace the two existing 145kW gas-fired heaters and allow burning of the Company’s waste wood as a fuel to heat the factory. Cost of two 150kW wood-fired convector heaters = £20,500 installed. Savings in waste disposal = £5,941 per annum or 20.8 tonnes. Savings in gas use for heating = £6,295 per annum or 169,687 kWh. Payback period = 1.7 years.

Services; 1-2-1 Services Business Resource Review • The Business Resource Review, Water Review and EMS Review, Support available to individual businesses: • On-Site Review- Identify potential areas of resource-use reduction opportunities or assist with practice/process • Review Report - highlights the key opportunities, solutions. Quantifying the environmental and financial benefit of resource-use improvement. • Ongoing Support - Work with the company –at arms length - to implement recommendations and achieve the financial benefits identified in the report.
Services; 1-2-1 Services • Business Resource Review – A review or audit of resource use within a business covering water, waste and energy • Water Efficiency Review - A review designed specifically to reduce water-use in businesses – for those businesses which have a high water demand
Services; 1-2-1 Services • EMS Review - A benchmarking, gap-analysis and cost/benefit analysis exercise for organisations wishing develop and implement an environmental management system (EMS) • or for those whose EMS is unaccredited
Low Carbon Feasibility Studies • Working with companies requiring detailed technical and financial information to fully explore potential solutions requiring capital investment. • Providing further information on the full range of potential solutions, including • appraisal of relevant technologies • the benefits of investing – financial & environmental • detailed cost benefit analysis • assessment of pay back periods • support identifying appropriate financial support e.g. grants,loans
Feasibility Studies • Support available to individual businesses; • Up to 5 days on-site review by consultant for the collection and assessment of the opportunity • A bespoke report and action plan providing details of the findings of the feasibility and detailing the recommendations • - Up to 10 days follow-up support to assist the customer to understand feasibility report and implementation the project

Environmental Management System (EMS Club) • Aim is to assist businesses to understand and implement an environmental management system through a series of workshops designed to encourage knowledge exchange and peer-to-peer networking. • First session is a taster about EMS and the business benefits
Environmental Management System (EMS Club) • Support available to individual businesses: • A place at a series of ten monthly half-day training workshops; • All the necessary guidance, tools and templates required to develop the required EMS documentation and records; • Direct support from our EMS experts in the form of an EMS Review and ongoing support
