  2. Size • Smallest Tiger of their kind. • Males weigh up to 300 lbs • Up to 8 ft. Long

  3. Habitat • Live on Indonesian Island of Sumatra (Sumatra is the world’s sixth largest island) • Lowlands, Montane forests, grasslands, Sundalandrivers and swamps

  4. Food • Mainly wild boar or deer • If the food at the time is scarce they will prey on whatever is available.

  5. Birth • They can give birth to babies just like us and usually have 2-3 cubs at a time

  6. Threat Humans are killing their habitat by rapid deforestation and poaching. They capture and kill them for their skin, bones, claws and canines(teeth). Deforestation is from clearing out land to make plantations, sometimes palm oil nursery’s), & settlements.

  7. What’s being done to help • The WWF has created the National Park, Tessa Nilo, to protect this kind of species. • Provided a synthetic wild type life. • “We have set a bold but achievable goal of Tx2: doubling the number of tigers in the wild by 2022, when the next Year of the Tiger is celebrated.”

  8. What I can do to help • A way we could help protect this animal is by having a bake sale, at the school socials and other school functions to raise money. After we get enough money then we can adopt a tiger from WWF, with are parents help to fill out all the online info. Then we will have bake sales once a month and keep on donating to WWF.

  9. Fun Facts • Live usually 10 years in wild and twice as long in Zoo. • Can eat 100 lbs. of meat • Brightest eyes then any animal • Tiger roar can be heard farther then a mile away • Can see color and better then humans in darkness.
