CI/KR IP PRIORITIES AND CONCERNS: GUSTAV RECOVERY, ELECTRICAL POWER • Electrical Power Restoration is the prime domino for IP recovery • Damage assessments could take days, with up to weeks for full recovery • Cascading impacts across multiple sectors • Oil & Gas production, processing, and transportation • Refineries shut down; unable to run processes, safeties, controls, comms • Henry Hub gas terminal on generator power; nominal compression capability • LOOP dependent upon restoration of pipeline systems before able to move product/crude through port • Drinking & Waste Water processes • Transportation: Signal and control devices out of service • Communications, IT & SCADA systems • Dams: unable to operate control systems • Health and Human Services, incl hospitals and public safety operations • Critical manufacturing and commercial operations • PSAs facilitating coordination between private sector, jurisdictions, and response organization to streamline access to area for assessment and restoration, provision of critical support and resources, and prioritize focus of effort
Recovery • DR 1786: 34 Parishes declared for IA and PA • Governor’s Request for Declaration for FL and MS • Total registrations: 139,775 • Approx. 1,300 employees will be available to take roughly 28,100 registrations today • Registration assistants have started to deploy to the shelters to take registrations • Transitional Shelter Codes Authorized: 42,569 • Total Inspections Issued/Returned: 64,629/759 • Housing Mission Planning Teams deployed to Region IV and VI • PA Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDAs) began conducting PDAs in MS and AL 9/4 • Loading list of HUD multifamily rental property vacancies into FEMA Housing Portal • Updated Regions and States on eligibility guidance for Hotel/Motel program • Coordinating with Regions IV and VI and Louisiana JFO on sheltering and feeding requirements for de-evacuation • Working with Public Affairs and Field to message process for shelter registration and available assistance
