Understanding Cost “drivers” • Need to look at ‘Brand’ cost determinants (mission, sector, revenue), versus inflationary pressures on elements of spending over time (cost shifting) • Major brand determinants: • Revenue availability • Discipline mix • Mission – research, service • Curriculum/course enrollment patterns • Student economic circumstances • Admission selectivity
