Resting Heart Rate • A measure of the heart rate following a period of inactivity • Find your carotid artery (artery in your neck that is often used to find your pulse) • Start counting beats when I tell you • We will go for 30 seconds and take that number and times it by 2 to find your RHR
Maximum Heart Rate • The highest heart rate capable by the human body • 220 – your age = Maximum Heart Rate
Target Heart Rate • Your target heart rate is a range of how many beats per minute your heart is beating that you try to get to and then stay in for a certain amount of time. This range is targeted so that your body is getting enough of a workout to get stronger, but without overdoing it.

Finding your Target Heart Rate Zone • Step 3: • Take the number with the circle around it (MHR) and multiply it by .85 • Answer one____ • X .85 • _______ • ___________Answer two (Triangle around this answer)
Write the following statement: • My target heart rate zone is between _______ (insert # with a rectangle around it, which is 60% of your MHR) and _______ (insert # with a triangle around it, which is 85% of your MHR).
