  2. Patient information • 23 year-old Caucasian female with a non-contributory medical history. • Patient is currently taking birth control.

The lesion • This patient presented with a 4mm x 5mm, raised, red, sessile-to-pedunculated papule with a velvety surface on the mandibular facial gingiva around the area of tooth #26. • The patient was aware of the lesion and reports its appearance during/ after high school. • The patient experiences no symptoms from this lesion.

  6. Patient Dialogue • Are you aware of this lesion? Yes • When did you first notice this lesion? Around the time of high school • Has the lesion changed over the years? No • Does the lesion ever bother you? No • Did you changes your medications or lifestyle around the time of the appearance of this lesion? No

  7. Differential Diagnosis • Flat papilloma • Pyogenic granuloma • Peripheral giant cell granuloma • Peripheral ossifying fibroma • A definitive diagnosis has not yet been reached. After a pathology consult, it was recommended that an excisional biopsy be performed on this lesion.
