  6. What was the goal of the romans? The Romans wanted to conquer as many lands around the Mediterranean Sea.

  7. Notes: The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire At first Rome was ran by a king.

  8. King Tarquin: Last king of Rome

  9. Republic: power rests with the citizens of the country to for their leaders.

  10. Roman citizens voted for 2 leaders (Consuls) instead of just 1. But there were senators to keep the 2 leaders in check.

  11. Rome will have a Civil War

  12. Julius Caesar 100 B.C. to 44 B.C. Will become the 1st Caesar.

  14. Augustus Caesar 63 B.C. to 14 A.D. Empire: power rests with the emperor of the country.

  15. Under Augustus’s rule there was a time of peace and prosperity. Pax Romana (Roman Peace)

  16. Roman Soldier

  17. Had to be at least 18 of age 5ft 5in in height

  18. Tiberius Caesar 14 A.D. to 37 A.D.

  19. Problems for The Roman Empire

  20. Jesus Christ Believed in one God This went against the Roman Emperors belief of many Gods so in the year 27 A.D. Jesus was crucified by the Romans.

  22. Agriculture Fails, food shortages, rising prices, higher taxes

  24. The Roman Empire was running out of money (gold) so…………….So the emperor started to make fake money! Value of their money dropped.

  25. Soldiers stop being loyal to the government and follow individual leaders. People stop being loyal to their government.

  26. Empire got too big!!!

  27. Emperor Diocletian Decides to split the Empire into two parts because it is getting too big to control by himself.
