  2. World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually on 14th June to express gratitude towards the volunteers who come forward to donate blood and save lives. • On this day, donors are appreciated for their acts of kindness. 

  3. Theme for 2023 World Blood Donor Day, 2023, will have the theme “Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share Often.”

  4. Benefits of Blood Donation  • Blood donation not only saves the lives of receivers but it also has multifold benefits for the donor. • Improves your heart health • Prevents hemochromatosis • May reduce the risk of developing cancer • Maintains healthy liver • Weight loss

  5. Blood Donation and Human Body • Some scientific investigations have found a connection between blood donation and a lower risk of heart attacks and blood pressure. • Further, the human body has this amazing capacity to replenish the blood donated in the short span of 4 to 8 weeks. • The body will replace the blood volume (plasma) in just 48 hours.

Who should not donate blood?  According to WHO, you shouldn’t donate blood if : You have a cold, flu or sore throat, cold sore, or any other infection If you fail to meet the minimum hemoglobin level for blood donation  If you are younger than 18 years old, you must meet the minimum age requirements in order to be eligible to donate blood.
