  1. 7th Grade Welcome Letter Please write a letter, addressed to me, Miss Chamoun, about yourself as a reader and writer (i.e. do you enjoy reading and writing? Do you hate it? Do you have a love-hate relationship with it? What types of books do you enjoy? What did you read this summer? What do you like to write?). Your letter should contain 3 examples (evidence) of how you are as a reader and writer! I will collect this! Thank you !

  2. 8th Grade Response for Uglies Please choose ONE question below to answer on a blank, lined piece of paper. I will collect this! Please write the number question you are answering at the top of the page. Thank you ! • Tally’s futuristic world is filled with amazing inventions and timesaving devices. Please write about ONE of those inventions in the novel and give ONE piece of evidence of how the invention helps Tally’s society. Then discuss, using ONE piece of evidence, how that particular invention would help make your life easier in our society today. Be sure to cite at least ONE page number from the novel.

  3. 8th Grade Response to Literature for Uglies • Describe Tally’s futuristic society (think: setting). Provide ONE piece of evidence of the setting. Discuss how the setting influences Tally by providing ONE piece of evidence. Then describe how society has influenced you by giving ONE piece of evidence. Be sure to cite at least ONE page number from the novel.

  4. 8th Grade Response to Literature for Uglies • Tally is faced with a difficult decision: betray her close friend or stay “ugly” forever. What was Tally’s decision?
