The Plot The two main settings show the work and home life of Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke), the head writer of a comedy variety show filmed in Manhattan. Viewers are given an "inside look" at how a TV show (the fictitious The Alan Brady Show) was written and produced. Many scenes deal with Rob and his coworkers, writers Buddy Sorrell (Morey Amsterdam) and Sally Rogers (Rose Marie). Mel Cooley (Richard Deacon), a balding straight man and recipient of numerous insulting one-liners from Buddy, was the show's producer and the brother-in-law of the show's star, Alan Brady (Carl Reiner). As Rob, Buddy, and Sally write for a comedy show, the premise provides a built-in forum for them to be making jokes constantly. Other scenes focus on the home life of Rob, his wife Laura (Mary Tyler Moore), and son Richie (Larry Mathews), who live at 148 Bonnie Meadow Road in suburban New Rochelle, New York. Also often seen are their next-door neighbors and best friends, Jerry Helper (Jerry Paris), a dentist, and his wife Millie (Ann Morgan Guilbert). This show…. This show this show. It’s amazingly funny and a very quirky kind of show. Comedy in my case since it’s very unique to me. Their humor is timeless: especially Dick van Dyke's stellar timing and physical humor. This is a show that delivers comfort and happiness. ~Review from Cambresha Knight 1
Stand By Me Lyrics By Ben E. King When the night has comeAnd the land is darkAnd the moon is the only light we'll see No I won't be afraid, Oh-h I-i won't be afraidJust as long as you stand, stand by me, stand by me So darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh-h stand by me-eOh-h stand, stand by me, If the sky that we look uponShould tumble and fallOr the mountains should crumble to the seaI won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tearJust as long as you stand, stand by me And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh-h stand by meWooh stand now, stand by me, stand by me And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh-h stand by-y me-eOh-h stand now, stand by me, stand by me Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh-h stand by meWooh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me My Review :In my own words this song is a powerful song during slavery is what I think. To encourage people to stand up to stand with that person who is you, stand by me. It's a really inspiring song that 'relates to love but then went beyond that and to tell that person to stand by the one you love don't matter what. Even if your in trouble for something. 1961 could of been like that as what I seen in the music video and the words of this song. Top Ten Best 1. Stand By Me Ben E. King 2. Crazy Patsy Cline 3. 1961 BEST FEMALE SPORTSWOMEN KERRY SAXBY Kerry Saxby became the most prolific world-record breaker in athletic history in Melbourne in February 1991 when she set a new record of 11 minutes 51.26 seconds in the 3 kilometer walk event. Kerry Saxby became the most prolific world-record breaker in athletic history in Melbourne in February 1991 when she set a new record of 11 minutes 51.26 seconds in the 3 kilometer walk event. This took her number of world bests to thirty, which was one better than the previous mark, created by the distance runner Paavo Nurmi. Her world records have been established across a range of distances and venues, sometimes at mixed competitions. Saxby regularly trained with and competed against men and believes this contributed to her success. In the decade of competition when she was at her peak, she never finished outside the top five, and was only disqualified for losing foot contact with the track once. Saxby's sporting achievements include representing Australia 24 times in major international competitions. She won 13 individual international medals, won a record 27 Australian National Championships, set 32 world records or world bests, and at 38 years of age she was the oldest athlete to win a medal at world level in 1999. She retired from competition in 2001, but not before achieving a very creditable 7th place in the 20 kilometer walk at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. In 2006, the Australian Institute of Sport selected her as one of their twenty-five 'Best of the Best'. Kerry Saxby was born in young NSW in 1961 and moved to Ballina in northern New South Wales when she was thirteen. Initially a swimmer and middle distance running, Kerry changed to walking in 1981 competing with the Ballina Athletic Club. She won a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport in 1986 and was a scholarship holder until September 2001 when she retired from athletics. Saxby has lived in Canberra since 1986, when she first moved there. She married Ray Junna, an assistant coach for soccer at the Australian Institute of Sport. Since her retirement, Kerry has coached junior walkers in the Australian Capital Territory. In 2004 she became a director of the Bendigo Bank in Canberra. Her Future plan was unknown. 3

His life and presidency were cut short, however, by an assassin's bullet on November 22, 1963, plunging the country into mourning. Kennedy was the most popular and youngest president of our time in 1961. His economy was pretty good, and there was a war in his presidentially. He had some tough social affects on the country when he issued on a Statement calling for the United States. I’ll say he was a good president for the U.S at this time. ~Review from Cambresha Knight~ 4
Facts About Malcolm X - Was Egypt Coming to America? A fact about Malcolm X and his story concerns Egypt and the Nation of Islam. In 1961, black America was marching and chanting against a segregated government similar to the recent protest that is happening in Egypt.Black Americans were fed up with an unjust and unequal government that limited and segregated them from the rest of its citizens. However, in 1961 the Nation of Islam unveiled an architectural drawing of a hospital, museum, worship center and library proposed to be built in their newspaper "Muhammad Speaks."Malcolm X states in his autobiography that this University and Hospital was going to fashioned after the University of Cairo in Egypt. But, most blacks in America didn't even know that the University of Cairo in Egypt existed.Blacks also didn't know that the University of Cairo is one of the oldest and finest universities in the world. It is especially renowned for its Medical and Surgical center around the world. And the University of Cairo also produces one of the finest medical schools in the world. If this center was going to be fashioned after The University of Cairo were Egyptians going to build it?Was Mr. Muhammad bringing Egypt to America? Is it possible that this was a direct attempt by Elijah Muhammad, leader of the Nation of Islam to combat the inferior image that segregated America had made of Africa and African people? An Egyptian hospital would have changed the image of Africa in the minds of many Americans, especially, African Americans who at that time were ashamed of their African heritageThe timeless city of Cairo, Egypt and its Renown University of Cairo would have been a huge factor in making black people proud of their African descent. However, this center was never built because of a mistake Malcolm X made concerning the murder of President Kennedy in 1963. Malcolm X's "chickens coming home to roost" comments sent a tremor through the Islamic world and created a division between himself and his leader, Elijah Muhammad that would never be resolved. This one fact about Malcolm X kept Egypt from coming to America.Derek Lavelle once a promising boxer learned the Nation of Islam story while in a boxing camp named after Muhammad Ali called M.A.P.S (Muhammad Ali Professional Sports). At MAPS in 1981 Derek met older, original Nation of Islam men that had remained loyal to Elijah Muhammad during Malcolm's exodus.
