WEB BASED PMS • Web-based software can surprisingly increase performance, productivity and efficiency within an organization. • Since web-based applications can be accessed through any web browser, no desktop installation or updates are required. Web-based applications require to be installed on a server, which is most of the time hosted by the software developer. Moreover, certain providers even offer Intranet solutions, which can be installed on your own server.

  3. What Is a Project? A project is a series of tasks that will culminate in the creation or completion of some new initiative, product, or activity by a specific end date. Ex : a new product launch, the construction of a building

  4. What Is Project Management? • Project management is the coordinating effort to fulfill the goals of the project. The project manager, as the leader of the project team, is responsible for this effort and its ultimate result. Project managers use knowledge, skills, tools, and methodologies to: • Identify the goals, objectives, requirements, and limitations of the project. • Coordinate the different needs and expectations of the various project stake-holders, including team members, resource managers, senior management, customers, and sponsors.

  5. Project Management Objective • Achieve the project goal • Do a great thesis – on time • Keep customers (e.g., Contractors) happy • Keep the team focus on the goal • Make sure that team members work well • Everyone shares the load

  6. Understanding the Project Management Process • The project management process can be broken down into four manageable phases: • Initiating and planning the project • Executing the project • Controlling the project • Closing the project

Advantages • The system will help to   Determine whether the project is being implemented efficiently and effectively to achieve the intended objectives. • Identify problems, issues and constrains that effect implementation and provide early warning signals when programs are not going as planed. • Manage Multiple Projects at Once

NCs – Improvements needed Few soft ware fine tunings are required to be made such as : • Arranging uploaded photos as per date of photo instead of name of the jpg file. • With mouse over the project salient feature (in short) of the project shall pop up • Project detail shall include tender details such as Number of bidders participated etc, to show all tender details pertaining to the work

  10. Link of Contractor in the project details is not working. If made alright it shall show the total no of works on hand and balance cost of such works. • Also it shall show the efficiency of the contractors • PMS shall include a scale for measuring the efficiency of the contractor

  11. Faults in the system Faults in the system are caused to : • Misunderstanding requirement • Missing Specification • Incorrect Design – Design faults • Faulty implementation – Coding faults

Closing Summary • Project Management – Lead an endeavor • Planning is a map, a guide, especially for a team • Relatively simple and helpful techniques • Management is mostly about people • Goal, discipline, communicate • Risks are inevitable, planning helps to avoid stupid ones • Experience counts • Assessing the scope of work, timing, risks
