Skipping to Save Lives. Our school is participating in Jump Rope For Heart! Over the next couple of weeks, you are going to have a lot of fun being active, and learning cool skipping tricks! You are also raising money to help the Heart Foundation fight heart disease in Australia.

Skipping to Save Lives • Our school is participating in Jump Rope For Heart! • Over the next couple of weeks, you are going to have a lot of fun being active, and learning cool skipping tricks! • You are also raising money to help the Heart Foundation fight heart disease in Australia.
Heart Disease • Heart disease is when someone has a sick heart. • Our hearts are super important as they help keep us alive! • Many people have heart disease. Raise your hand if you know someone who has a sick heart. • The good news is, by participating in Jump Rope, every single one of you can help!
How can you help? • Keep your heart healthy • Raise money to help people with sick hearts
1. Keep your heart healthy What are some things you can do to keep your hearts healthy?
Exercise every day! • We need at least 1 hour of physical activity every single day. What do you do to make sure you get 1 hour of exercise a day? • Skipping is great for our cardiovascular (which means our heart) health which is why our school is doing Jump Rope For Heart.
Eat healthy foods! • Eating a healthy diet full of a variety of fruits and vegetables every day is very important! • What are some of your favourite fruits and vegetables?
2. Raise money to help people with sick hearts • The Heart Foundation wants to help people with sick hearts get better. • To help the Heart Foundation fix hearts, people donate money to them, and this is where you and your families can help!
How can you raise money? • You can help save lives by collecting money for the Heart Foundation. • We have a special school page online that your parents can sign you up to, then you can ask friends and family to sponsor you. • It’s easy!
How does raising money help fix people’s hearts? • The Heart Foundation gives the funds you raise to doctors and researchers, so they can look further into heart disease and find ways to make sick hearts better. • Since 1959, the Heart Foundation have given almost $600 million towards heart disease research.
Yusuf now • Yusuf was born with a heart condition. The video you just watched was from 2016. • Late last year, Yusuf had another open heart surgery where they had to replace his aortic valve. • Thanks to people like you he is on his way to recovery!
