THE MAUSOLEUM OF HALICARNASSUS by Vishal Gupta. The Mausoleum was located in Halicarnassus the capital of a small kingdom in the Mediterranean built in 350 B.C. It is modern day Bodrum, Turkey It was severely damaged by earthquakes in 13 A.D. and completely destroyed by crusaders in 1522 A.D.

The Mausoleum was located in Halicarnassus the capital of a small kingdom in the Mediterranean built in 350 B.C. • It is modern day Bodrum, Turkey • It was severely damaged by earthquakes in 13 A.D. and completely destroyed by crusaders in 1522 A.D. • It was 140 feet tall and was made almost completely out of white marble
The structure was a combination of Egyptian, Greek, and Lycian styles • This ancient wonder of the world was ordered to be created by Mausolus’ wife Artemisia to be a burial chamber Mausolus • The mausoleum might not be around today but other mausoleum are still standing for example the Taj Mahal • With the remains the Bodrum castle that can still be seen today
The statue was unique because it was ahead of its time period and it was adorned with many statuettes including a chariot on the very top.
