Famous Ivan the Great is known for making Moscow the center of Russia. Also most known for refusing tribute to the Mongols. He did this by going to “war” with the Mongols but in reality they both met at the Ugra river and then retreated. But the Russian were no longer demanded tribute to the Mongols again.
The Ugra river, the left tributary of the Oka river, is the location of the Great Stand on the Ugra. This is where Ivan the Great stood face to face with the mongols.
