A little practice • Where is the red L shaped building? • Where is the small yellow building • Where is the lot with 4 small buildings?
Practice in the classroom • In your group, each person takes a turn picking an in tem in the class. The person to the right will then describe the relative location of the item. The group will then decide whether the person has correctly described the relative location of the item.
Directions • Another way to describe relative location is including the use of the cardinal directions and a compass

Using Cardinal Directions • Where is : • Canada in relation to Australia? • USA in relation to Africa? • South America in relation to Asia? • Europe in relation to Canada
Practice with your group • Using the map on the next slide and in your group: • Each person pick 5 relative locations and have a partner across from them try and solve them(just like what we did last slide)
Making a compass Rose • So we’ve learned a bit about relative location and directions • - to help us remember and learn to use the cardinal directions you will now create a compass rose!
