Introduction This is an update on our efforts to improve our membership database and how we track our receipts from the State Controller’s Office. Proprietary and Confidential 2
What Does This Mean to Local 1000? Moving into the 21st Century and increasing our capabilities: Increase our power in the field Increase our political power Increase the accuracy of our membership records Increase the accuracy of our financial records Improve our grievance tracking capabilities Improve our call tracking capabilities Provide real-time information to users Provide significantly improved reporting to users Improve member outreach and connectedness Place us in the position of unquestionable, undeniable leadership Proprietary and Confidential 3
What Are We Talking About? Infrastructure is the plumbing that allows the water to flow in the system. It is your computer, the servers, the cables, the connection and much more. Membership System is the water that flows in the pipes – it is the information which supports the members, and the new membership system. Support is the plumber who comes and makes sure the water is flowing, that there are no leaks, and who fixes them when they are found. Proprietary and Confidential 4
What Happens If We Do Nothing? • Our infrastructure is outdated • Microsoft Windows XP - SP2 is out of support. XP - SP3 will be out of support in 2012 • Our security is inadequate – viruses, malware, cyber criminals • Dissatisfaction • System • Data • Reports Proprietary and Confidential 5

Costs of Staying With The Current System? • Based upon the problem resolution rate, assuming current staffing levels, it will take six years to correct all anticipated bugs.
