Spinal Orthopaedic Outpatient Waiting list • Waiting list for this service is long • As of March 06 there were 806 patients on the waiting list • Average waiting time for patients with appointments booked in March • Category 1 – 3.3 months • Category 2 – 5.5 months • Category 3 – 23.6 months • On average 105 new patients added per month and 102 new patients seen per month
INNOVATIONS IMPLEMENTED • Establishment of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Screening Clinics • Multidisciplinary allied health team to assess and institute conservative management • Established close working relationships with Orthopaedic Consultants and Fellows
Results • Reduced number on the Waiting list • Reduced Waiting Time
HOW WE DID IT • Coincided with change in service delivery of Southern Zone Spinal Service • Component of larger QH Fit for Surgery Project • PAH Background work commenced November 2005 • First clinic March 2006 • Budget- $440000 2006/2007 financial year to run OPSC and Fit for Surgery Programs
